Proper Mount Bearing Support

Proper mounting of an oversized ball bearing unit is vital to the proper performance of these units. Improper mounting techniques can result in excessive wear and poor bearing life, both of which can have an effect on the ability of the unit to continue working properly. Good design and engineering practice don't recommend the use of more than two bearings supports on anyone bearing shaft.

Bearings are mounted in three places. These places are the bottom of the unit (in other words, where the shaft goes through the top housing), the inside of the housing, and above the housing. Proper installation techniques are needed for all three areas.

When the shaft is first installed, it's important to install the bearing shaft at the bottom of the housing. The reason for this is that when the shaft is moved in the housing, the bearing housing must also move as well. This is why the shaft should be installed at the bottom of the housing.

The shaft is then moved in the housing and the bearing housing is moved in relation to the shaft. A bolt or a nut is used to support the bearing housing from underneath. It's important to use bolts that are of proper thread size, not loose enough that they can loosen up and get caught in the bearing housing. Loose nuts and bolts will cause the bearing housing to slip out of the housing and can potentially jam the bearing housing, creating a problem down the road.

Finally, the housing is moved into position over the bearing shaft. The reason for this is that the housing has to support the bearing housing itself. Loosely positioned bearings can result in uneven bearing support, both of which can reduce bearing life and performance. Using the appropriate amount of mounting material is key in achieving the right balance of the bearing housing and bearing shaft support.

Following proper procedures and practices will result in a well-performing and safe bearing unit. Proper installation techniques help ensure that the bearing unit will provide years of the excellent bearing support. and long, trouble-free bearing life.

Bearing support problems are most often caused by improper installation techniques. When a bearing is installed improperly, it may be placed too deep in the housing, resulting in poor bearing support. When installed incorrectly, a bearing may be too large, resulting in a bearing shaft that's too narrow.

Improper installation can also cause an improper fit between the bearing and housing. Inadequate fit can result in problems such as poor bearing support or improper bearing shaft support. The proper fitting can also create problems such as improper bearing life and improper bearing shaft rotation.

To avoid these problems, proper equipment maintenance is necessary. Proper equipment maintenance ensures proper bearing support and long, trouble-free bearing life.
